Position Available: Part-time Bookkeeper

Camp Timber Trails is a community-owned events venue in Tolland, MA, which hosts gatherings, festivals, and camps from May through October each year.   We are seeking a part-time bookkeeper to work remotely, managing the financial processes of our organization.  The schedule is flexible, working approximately 2-5 hours per week, with one monthly Zoom meeting with the Finance Committee, and communication with the CTT Board of Managers, caretakers, and Treasurer on an as-needed basis. 

Qualifications:

Must-haves:

  • Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or similar roles (all levels of experience considered).
  • Familiarity with Quickbooks accounting software, or an equivalent.
  • Have strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Can manage time effectively and work independently.
  • Communicate well and solve problems creatively.
  • Maintain discretion with sensitive financial information.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Familiarity with processing of payroll, using an external payroll provider.  Experience with Gusto service a plus.
  • Possess a strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • An associate degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered. We value a variety of educational backgrounds and experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Recording all expenditures, donations, payments, and other financial information
  • Track income and expenses 
  • Organize and maintain receipts
  • Create invoices for rental payments and security deposits
  • Manage vendor invoices and pay vendor bills
  • Create new vendors and customers in Quickbooks as necessary
  • Manage payroll for three year-round employees and several seasonal employees
  • Prepare the data that will be used to create the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank statements
  • Track 1099 vendors, and preparation of 1099s and 1099-Ints

Reporting Relationship

  • The Bookkeeper reports to the Treasurer.

Position Requirements

Work Experience:

  • 2-4 years experience in bookkeeping
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks, online banking, Excel, Google Sheets

Personal Attributes:

  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus, or interest in learning
